Official: Price Confirmed For 700+HP Ford Mustang Dark Horse SC

You’re going to need a lot of moolah to take this Mustang home.

Writer

Slotting in the current Ford Mustang lineup where the Shelby GT500 used to, the Dark Horse SC bridges the gap from everyday horses and the wild, hyperlimited Mustang GTD. You can read everything about what makes the SC special in our First Look story, but the gist is that it’s a Mustang Dark Horse with a supercharger that serves up a heaping helping of additional horsepower. Think something over the 700-pony mark.

That’s not quite as much as the $330,000 GTD makes, but neither is the SC’s price. One thing those MSRPs have in common, though? Six figures.

After a leak appeared on the internet Ford confirmed to MotorTrend that the Dark Horse SC will start at $108,485. But that’s just the start, as the Track Pack adds another $36,500 for a total of $144,985, and the Track Pack Special Edition tops out the range at $175,965.

That’s still $150,000 or so shy of the GTD’s base price but nevertheless makes the Dark Horse SC one very expensive pony out of reach of most Mustang enthusiasts. But if you can afford it, you can walk into your local dealer and order a Dark Horse SC.

What’s Included in the Six-Figure Price?

For the money you get a 5.2-liter supercharged V-8 backed by a seven-speed Tremec DCT, revised aerodynamics, the Variable Traction Control system from the GTD, and a MagneRide suspension.

The Track Pack adds more parts from the GTD, including Brembo carbon-ceramic brakes, Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 R tires, and additional aerodynamic improvements Ford says were “developed alongside the Mustang GTD and Mustang GT4.” It lso deletes the rear seat. Those wanting a very limited Dark Horse SC will need to order the Track Pack Special Edition, which is limited to just the 2026 model year and adds exclusive painted hood graphics, unique Solar Red upholstery, and the Carbon Fiber Appearance package as standard equipment.

How Does the 2026 Dark Horse SC Compare to the GT500 and Z06?

The SC’s spiritual predecessor, the 2022 Shelby GT500, had a base price of $77,260 (around $86,000 in 2026 money) and could be seen as relatively affordable. But Ford might have the price right considering its crosstown performance rival, the mid-engine Chevrolet Corvette Z06 coupe, starts $14,310 more than the mega-stang ($122,795). To match up with the SC Track Pack in terms of features, you’d need to shop for the Z06 3LZ with the Z07 Aero package and bring $161,740, some 16 grand more than the Mustang. Of course, given their engine placements and the otherworldly performance Corvettes are capable of, it may not be much of a fight. Oh, we long for the days of Mustang vs. Camaro. Maybe someday we’ll get to enjoy that battle again/
